Super Vocal Meeting
Four reincarnations · different voices · one musical concept
Created and directed by Pere Soto, Super Vocal Meeting was an international vocal jazz project developed in the mid-1990s, bringing together three voices — American, Brazilian and Catalan — with a jazz ensemble specially created for each production.
The project received the support and co-production of the Government of Andorra, with Josep Maria Ubach playing a key role in making it possible and in its development in Andorra. It was also sponsored by Delta Air Lines, which facilitated the participation of musicians travelling from the United States. Each production was completed by a band featuring some of the finest jazz musicians in the country.
The vocalists
The project evolved through four reincarnations, with changing combinations of singers and musicians:

The show
The performance was conceived as a progressive vocal journey. Each singer first appeared individually, presenting her own musical personality and repertoire. The evening then evolved into duets between the vocalists, before culminating with all the singers together on stage.
Solo performances, vocal encounters and the final gathering of all the voices created a unique sense of musical progression — a night of vocal jazz in which different personalities, backgrounds and styles came together in a single performance.
The repertoire was built around jazz standards arranged for one, two and three voices, with the arrangements and combinations changing throughout the show.
Super Vocal Meeting was presented in major venues and jazz circuits in Spain and Andorra, becoming one of Pere Soto’s most distinctive vocal jazz projects of the 1990s.
